HURRICANE SEASON; STILL TIME TO BUILD AN ARK

Noah's Ark Bible Story For Kids - ( Children Christian Bible ...

THE STORY OF THE FLOOD

Noah’s son Ham approaches his mother Zipporah.

Mon says, “Where is your father?”

Ham, “He’s out in the backyard building on his boat.”

Mom, “Wish he’ spend as much time working for money as he spends on that boat.”

Ham, “He says God told him to build the boat.”

Mom, “Yes, and God tells him to go to the Happy Hole and spend his money every Friday before Sabbath.

Ham, “Dad says God told him there is going to be a flood and we will need a boat.”

Mom, “you’re as dumb as your dad.  We’re in the middle of a desert.  We don’t need a boat.   We have a flash flood every spring and we all go up on the hill till the water goes down.”

Ham, “But dad says…”

Mom, “Oy vey .  My father arranged my marriage to dumbest and old carpenter in the town, all for a new wheelbarrow.   Now I have an ancient, senile husband and four retarded sons that are a chip of the block of stupid wood.”

Ham, “How old is dad?  He said six hundred when I asked him.”

Mom, “Holy Mother of Moses.  I give up.”

Later that year the spring rains come, and the dry river bed starts to swell.   The village is leaving for higher ground.

Noah, “Come on Mother, get in the boat.   God is going to save us.”

Mom, “your drunk.   And you’ve got the boy’s drunk too.”

Noah, “God told us to drink as much wine as we can to lighten the load, so the boat will float.   Now you and the girls and kids need to get in the boat – God said to.”

“Mom, “The girls and babies and I are going up on the hill like we always do till the flood goes down.”

Noah, slurring his words; “God told me to take two of every animal in the world, and the boys are loading them now – but there is still some room for you and the family.”

Mom, “Two of every animal in the world?”

Noah’s son Japhet comes in the kitchen, “Pa, the cats won’t stay in the boat.   We’ve got the goats and the dogs in, but there ain’t enough room for the ass so I tied him to the back – he can swim so he should be all right.”   Japhet scratches his ass and says, “I had Shem put in two chickens and two ducks like you said, but we only got one cow – what you want to do?”

Mom, “You’re not drowning the cow – she’s coming with me.”

Japhet, “Pa.  ain’t there more animals in the world than ducks, chickens, goats, dogs, cats and cows?”

Noah, “Now son, did you ever see any other animals?”

Son, “Naw Pa, but people say...”

Noah, “You see, that’s just fake news.  The true facts, God calls them alternative facts, is what you see and what I tell you.   Now did you load the food?”

Japhet, “We got that twenty-five gallons of wine you made and six loaves of bread like you said, and we got the fishing gear.   We can eat a chicken if we don’t catch fish.”

Noah, “You dumb fool, we can’t eat a chicken – God said there has to be two.”

Japhet, “but why two Pa?”

Noah, “You stupid shit, so we can breed more after the flood.”

Japhet, “But Pa, the chickens are both hens.  We don’t got no rooster.”

Noah, “Get in the damn boat.

Mom shakes her head and leaves with the boy’s wives and children.

The rain continues for five days and the water rises to three feet.

Up on the hill the residents are enjoying the yearly community flood gathering.   Noah’s wife occasionally hears her drunk husband and sons singing sailor shanties down in the valley.

When the flood recedes, the villagers return to find Noah and his sons passed out on the roof of their house, the boat full of water and the animals gone.   There are some chicken and duck bones scattered about the roof.

Years later Noah tells the story of the Ark and the flood to an Arab scribe who writes it down word for word.

Eons later God has the story read to him: “Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha…”   Then he tweets: What dumb asses, so funny, so stupid.   Sad

SHOVELING HORSE SHIT

The story of Noah’s Ark is so ridiculous that it’s laughable; and yet people attend the movie, visit the Ark reproduction in Kentucky and have searched the world for the Ark's remains.

Many adults believe, five thousand years ago, a six-hundred-year-old man sailed on a worldwide flood for one year with his three sons, their wives and two of every animal and bird in the world.

Let’s deal with strictly mammals.   There are approximately 10,000 mammal species on the earth today, and 5,000 bird species.    Five thousand years ago without the pressure of human over population the numbers had to be at least the same.

Two of every animal: elephants, rhinos, hippopotamus, bison, water buffalo, horse, donkeys, giraffe, kudus, wilder beast, zebra, elk, moose, black bear, grizzly bears, polar bears, sloth bears, lions, tigers, puma, leopards, jaguars, bobcats, lynx, badgers, wolverines, monkeys, orangutans, gorillas, baboons, camels, rats, mice, voles, llama, kangaroos, duckbill platypus, Tasmanian devils, koala, pander bear and thousands more...

Can you visualize the amount of plant food it would take to just feed the herbivores?  And the amount of meat for the carnivores?   And the bird food?

And then there is the shit.    Can you imagine 10,000 birds sitting on top of the ark – you couldn’t wade through the guano on deck.   I have shoveled horse shit in a barn and I can’ imagine shoveling the shit from 2 elephants, 2 rhinos, 2 hippopotamus, buffalo, deer, horses, zebra, camels, donkeys…  and only eight people aboard the feed the animals and shovel shit!

Perhaps you could have a litter box for the lions and tigers and other cats.

And then there is the dispersion of the animals after the flood: kangaroos back to Australia, buffalo to North America, penguins to Antarctica…

I am sure that fundamentalist Christians can argue their point with scripture verse; but you have to shut down your brain to actually believe in the story of Noah’s Ark.

ATHEISM IS A RELIGIOUS TERM

It is understandable if a person wants to identify themself by their belief in a religion, a church, a political party, an ethnicity…; but it absolutely makes no sense that you would feel the need to identify yourself by what you do not believe.

I do not believe in vampires, werewolves, zombies, big foot, fairies, alien autopsies, ghost or things that go bump in the night.

I do not believe that the world is flat or that the sun rotes around the earth.

I do not believe that dinosaurs and humans existed at the same time

I do not believe that a snake whispered to a woman who ate an apple which brought sin into the world.

I do not believe that a six-hundred-year-old man and his hundred-year-old sons built a boat and sailed on a flood that mixed salt water and fresh water, carrying two of every animal on earth, and that upon landing a kangaroo hopped twelve thousand miles across three continents to go home to Australia.

I do not believe that a child was born to a virgin.

I do not believe that statues bleed.

I do not believe in devils and demons and angles and gods, or in a physical heaven or hell.

I do not believe a man god walked on water, or that a brutal human sacrifice was performed to ‘take away the sins of the world.’

The name Atheist is a religious term that supposes the legitimizing of religious beliefs and proposes to delegitimize anyone that doesn’t accept the fairy tale.

If you feel the need to attach a name to me to identify what I don’t believe in, me you might just call me sane – I can live with that.

ASK A JEW ABOUT THE OLE TESTAMENT

YOU MIGHT ASK A JEW ABOUT  CHRISTIAN  FUNDAMENTALIST BELIEF IN THE OLD TESTAMENT.   HE CAN GIVE YOU AN ANSWER; BUT REMEMBER - IN THE END,  HIS ANSWER WILL STILL BE STEEPED IN RELIGIOUS BULLSHIT.

I just posted about a letter-to-the-editor I wrote on religion.    It brought this clip to mind.

The Bible was written as a fable to control people; a story with a moral, for a people who lived in the desert and for whom a wheelbarrow was cutting edge technology.   That there are people today that take it literally is fucking nuts.   Like Black, I can't be gracious.

Science facts and religion are not compatable.  Either you live in a world of makebelileve, or you live in the real world.

FORTY DAYS AND NIGHTS OF RAIN

So far we have had three days of torrential rain here in western Maine, but there are still thirty-seven more to go to match the Biblical downpour.   It makes me wonder if Pentecostals are beginning to sing and dance and talk in unknown tongues, and lining up for the Rapture.

Did you ever really consider what cataclysmic event would be required to drown the entire earth in forty days and nights of rain?

We have mountains here in western Maine just shy of four thousand feet in elevation, and that is small for many ranges.   It would have to rain one hundred feet a day during the forty days and nights in order to cover these mountains and drown the people of Rangeley, Maine.  That amounts to approximately four feet an hour.   At four feet am hour rainfall the atmosphere would be so heavy with water you would drown just by breathing.   In other words, God probably wasted thirty-nine days and twenty-three hours of rainfall during his rage against mankind.

But, fundamentalist people continue to believe verbatim the story of Noah and all the other fables of the Bible.   These people are as dirt ignorant as they are enthusiastic for their religion.

However, they are also enthusiastic voters.

NOAH

CLAP YOUR HANDS IF YOU BELIEVE IN FAIRIES AND TINKERBELL WON'T DIE

Last year the History Channel’s series ‘The Bible’ set cable TV records.   As should have been expected, this year will be the year of religious fervor at the box office.    Movies to be released include Son of God, Noah, Heaven is for Real, Exodus and Mary, Mother of Christ.   These exaggerated fictional renderings of the old Bible stories are going to result in a dramatic ‘Back to Jesus’ movement among the fundamentalist that will culminate in renewed religious mania against anything liberal.

In all cases these movies will rewrite biblical history and attempt to make these stories emotionally believable for modern time.

I am constantly seeing the advertisement of Noah on cable TV.   The movie features Russell Crowe as Noah who looks more like Mad Max than a six hundred year old man.   (The movie fails to address the issue that Noah was suppose to be over five hundred years old, and that it took him and his sons one hundred years to build this ark…)

The story is too ridiculous to even comment on.  Talk about biblical fantasies, this story surpasses the ridiculous.

Years ago I read Mark Twain’s Letters from the Earth that primarily deals with the story of Noah.   It was the first time that I had read anything the questioned the validity of the Bible.

Twain begins with Satan being banished from heaven for a day for being surly with God.  To kill time Satan comes down to earth to view the strange life forms God had created on this speck in the cosmos.  He writes letters back to heaven to describe the ridiculous creation called man.    Twain gets a little carried away with some parts of the story and is mistaken on his cosmology, but when you consider the time and attitudes of his day he was a Renaissance man.

It is eleven short chapters and worth a read.
