HARD BOILED EGGS

I love eggs.  I love fried eggs, poached eggs, scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, stuffed eggs and egg salad.   But peeling hard boiled eggs has always been a pain in my ass.

I have tried numerous suggestions and none of them has ever been completely reliable.

Every thing I know I learned from books.  I always read manuals: Chilton Auto manuals, electronic manuals, product manuals and survival manuals, aircraft manuals and weapons manuals – I learned carpentry, plumbing, electrical wiring, hunting, fishing and camping from books.

Now I go to YouTube.

I tried this and two out of six eggs pealed easily the other four didn’t.  The two that pealed easily were white eggs the four that didn’t were brown eggs.  Brown eggs seem to have a thicker shell.   Perhaps it is not the procedure, but the color of the eggs?

CONSUMER CAUTION

Many of the shelves in the Walmart stores here in Maine are empty.  It could be because of transportation problems, lack of staff at warehouse facilities or prior government policies…

The bottom line is: we cannot rely on the way things have always been – expecting things to return to normal.

We are living in the new normal.   I am not suggesting people dig a bug-out-shelter and imitate zombie preppers.

I am saying that it is prudent for people to build up a reasonable pantry.   Each time you shop you should buy in a few extras can goods or dried food…and toilet paper.

With the corona virus surge and thirty percent of the population refusing to get vaccinated, food and other supply chains could be interrupted again.  When a replay of the toilet paper stamped occurs you won’t be panicked.

Speaking of toilet paper, have you noticed that rolls used to be four-inches-wide, are now three-and -one-half inches wide?

CORONAVIRUS MAN SLAUGHTER

Corona virus cases are spiking.  These cases are the results of unvaccinated people.

When we let political affiliations, rather than medical professionals, dictate our health care we can’t expect a good outcome

Republicans, the majority of the unvaccinated, are always raving about the sanctity of life. Unvaccinated people can pass along the virus and kill other people.

If you drive recklessly and kill someone you can be charged with man slaughter.   If you refuse to take the vaccine, catch the virus and pass it along to someone who dies, you are guilty of man slaughter.

This epidemic spike is unnecessary.  It is the result of the unvaccinated.

A PENNY SAVED IS A PENNY EARNED

Pennies are a pain in the ass.  Why do we still have pennies?   The government admits that the cost of producing a penny is more then the penny is worth.  What the hell can you buy with a penny?   What the hell can you buy with a nickel, for that matter.

The only reason for pennies, that I can see, is for states that require sales tax, which varies from 4% to 7.5% … gas tax etc.

I have a drink container in my car full of pennies.  Do I really want to stand at a sales counter and count out 49 pennies on my next purchase?  In some states I would probably get shot.

 Pennywise and pound foolish?

ABORTION

“Sexually progressive cultures gave us literature, philosophy, civilization and the rest, while sexually restrictive cultures gave us the Dark Ages and the Holocaust”

25,000 Years of Erotic Freedom

Alan Moore Abrams

I would add to that Fatwas, suicide bombers, the subjugation of women and the dehumanizing of women.

We are watching the demise of Roe vs Wade, strictly as a political agenda.

THE ABORTION ISSUE

What we know is abortion brings about the termination of a life never lived.

Other Terminations:

War

Police use of deadly force

Self-defense killings

Capital punishment

Euthanasia

Abortion

Contraceptive

Masturbation

Grounds for opposing Abortion:

Religious beliefs

Humanitarian

Grounds for pro-choice:

Humanitarian

Personal freedom

Freedom from religious oppression

Opposition to the subjugation of women

Grey areas: rape, incest, age, financial responsibility, retardation, emotional instability; physical or mentally deformed fetus, world over population

It is next-to-impossible to have an intelligent discussion on the subject.

Christian churches have always been obsessed with sex and the sexual promiscuity of women all the way back to Eve.

The abortion issue is basically a Christian Taliban’s obsession with the sexuality of women and the wish to control the sexual activity and sexual reproduction of women.  The Catholic church and the Protistan fundamentalist churches wish to legislate Christian doctrine.  Laws have been proposed to jail women who receive abortions, and the proposed Texas law would allow vigilante action against women, abortion providers and supporters of women’s rights.

SPEAKING IN ESKIMO ABSOLUTES

My wife and I spent over a decade in the Indian and Eskimo villages of Alaska.   One of the things we heard when we first arrived was ‘White man talk too much.”

A white man would come in and say ‘It’s cold outside…’ The northern Native would not say that because at -45 degrees it is obviously cold outside.

The Natives don’t feel the necessity of stating the obvious.  They speak what is necessary.  White people can not stand a void in conversation – we feel we have to fill in the void even if it is just babble.

If a Native grandfather is working on a canoe and the grandson wants to assist, the grandfather will hand the boy a tool and show him how to use it.  He will stop and assist the boy when he is not doing it correct; but few words will pass between them.

It took us our first year of teaching to realize that teachers talk too much.  We were trained to give verbal explanations, verbal directions, verbal corrections and verbal reinforcement.  We would boor the Native students into lethargy.  We learned to demonstrate and show.   We were teaching multi-classroom, so in our second year we grouped our students by mixing the grades; the older students could assist the younger students.    And we learned: White man talk too much.

White musher: It’s four-o-clock and getting dark, I had better go out and feed the dogs while there is still some daylight.  We need to get some more dog food when we go into town.  I am worried about my second lead he seems not to be eating well.  Do you know where my glove liners are? I took the off when I came in yesterday.  I shouldn’t be long.

Native musher: Go feed dogs.

I AM KIN TO EVERYBODY

I have always been critical of persons tracking their genealogy.  Beyond the third generation it becomes ridiculous.   Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and people who track their lineage back to Plymouth are spouting nonsense.   Considering 1630, someone born in 1950 can count  262,144 grandparents, while the population of the United States (less Native Americans) was less than 5,000.   Anyone, with more than three generations in the United States could probably qualify for either.

During the 1600's many women died of child birth, resulting in a large percentage of husbands having more than one wife/family.  Along with immigration, the unavoidable intermarriage of half siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins...  has to be factored in the early population growth.  A complete genealogy search of these early dates might be quite revealing.
