We liberals keep hoping for
the miracle that will not happen. First
of all miracles are not real: You can not turn a pumpkin into a coach; you can
not turn a frog into a prince and you can not twang your magic twanger and turn
water into wine.
We live in a world of hard
physical laws that we refer to as science, and yet we keep expecting the
impossible.
Probably fifty percent of the
people living on this earth are bone ignorant and at least thirty percent are
bat-shit religious crazies, and that number is not going to change – if
anything it is increasing. At one
time the really ignorant people were kept hidden by their families, but now
they run for public office.
In my last post ELECTION 2013,
John Oliver highlighted Australians running for public office and made the
comparison with our 2012 candidates on the Republican ticket.
One woman running for office
stated that Islam was a country and their people were followers of Huran law;
and under Huran law Jews had their own religion that worshiped Jesus Christ.
You can’t make this up…the
woman is obviously a moron, and she doesn't hold the patent on that condition.
Here in America we have
no room to mock the Australians since we had an entire Republican candidateship
that proudly proclaimed disbelief if Darwinism and global warming. For the most part they are flat earth people
that believe the world is six thousand years old.
I sincerely believe that if
it were possible to pole everyone in the United States at least half would
be unable to answer basic questions of history, science, math and
politics. Uninformed these people are
prone to believe outlandish propositions and are easily influenced and
manipulated by political factions and religious leaders. They
have banded together under the Tea Party banner and are systematically taking
over the government. Truly, the inmates
are now running the asylum.
The human race has been on
this earth for a minuscule period of time and we are proving to be our own
worst enemy. We probably will not
inherit this earth for long. We have an
over assessment of our own worth and our own place in nature.
Perhaps we liberals all need
to lower our expectations and not let politics, religion and stupid people
upset our daily lives – because it is not going to change.

DeleteOB,
DeleteLet me try that comment again - emotion fucks with clarity!
Great post! I concur. I just had a pull page across letter to the editor in our local rag about Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell - I had both my sister (doctorate in education) and my aunt (secretary at a mental health assiciation) - not a clue. OB, I know people that buy the USA Today and trash everything except the sports page!
Shit, people won't register to vote because of fear of being called for jury duty. After sitting on that court martail at Tinker - When I got called for jury duty in Indy - I loved it! What an education and a chance to do what is right - And, we voted to acquit.
Ran into the accused a year on a city street in downtown Indy - Calvin Ross. We talked! The man told me the truth - He didn't do the robbery. I felt good.
Then there are those who will tell you, "My Daddy, his Daddy, and his Daddy were all Republicans - And,
I am a Republican - I throw one switch and vote a straight ticket". I never ever do that.
Even voted for Mike Pence for Governor - the other guy was a zero.
Again, great post!
Ron
Maybe you should not say that you are a liberal, that is a label.
ReplyDeleteBBC: Actually after seventy plus decades I don't securely fit in any label. I am comfortable at a biker rally or a college lecture. I have no real friends except my wife, and we like being alone together. I am to close to the grim reaper to really give a damn. I don't know why I blog; but enjoy writing and sometimes I just feel the need to say something.
DeleteI appreciate your comments

I guess I'm lucky, I do have some good close friends that I see as often as I can.
ReplyDeleteThe nice thing about "Australian Rules" is they only have to suffer through the campaign for a month (and in that time they managed to laugh the "Islam is a country" candidate out of the race, too bad that doesn't happen here!), instead of like here where the new campaign starts the day after the election. But I guess you need a long lead-up time to brainwash the idiot voters.
ReplyDeleteAs I recall Canada also only allows one month of campaigning.
ReplyDeleteThe Stupid shoe has been worn by both the right and the left foot over the years. Unfortunately, it now seems to have become permanently attached to the right foot. And no, we should not allow the idiocy transpiring down in DC and most if not all statehouses bother us. It appears we have no control over it anyway.
