AN OLD MAN'S PEE AT THREE A.M.
I got up at 3 a.m last night to go downstairs to do an old man's pee. The night light in the bathroom gave me enough illumination to hit the toilet. We live in the woods and always keep the shade up in the bathroom. Just as I was getting ready to go back to bed I turned and saw a shadow on the bathroom door. My Nook Book was handy so I grabbed it and snapped a picture.
We have a new moon with just a sliver crescent of light. The night was clear and the stars were vivid.
The shadow only last a few seconds and then faded away.
When I showed the picture to my wife, she just smiled in a knowing way and said, 'Some things men aren't meant to understand."

IF YOU LIKED TRUE BLOOD, STAY TUNED!
Charlaine
Harris has a new series, MIDNIGHT TEXAS, and it's beginning July 24.
I have read
the three books of the series she has written so far: Midnight
Crossing, Day Shift and Night Shift; and
if this new series is as well produced as
True Blood it will be a grabber.
The main
difference between the books and the trailer is the script writers seemed to have
modified the cast.
In the book
the population of Midnight is approximately twelve: an ancient vampire, a
witch, a pawn shop owner, a psychic, a couple of weretigers, two gay angels, a mob
hit woman and some people you are not sure of.
Almost everyone in Midnight is middle aged.
But who
wants to look at a bunch of middle aged people?
In the trailer it looks like everyone is young and hot, and they changed
the two gay angels to one angle hunk – probably straight (why?)
Oh well,
that what you get when you read the books before seeing the movie.
Anyway, I
will be watching and I invite you to watch with me.

Note: on YOUTUBE it looks like the series was possibly released sometime in 2016 – unless that was an advanced trailer; but it is airing here in Maine on NBC on 24 July.

PENNY DREADFUL
If you are a
macabre soul, as I am, that likes a great horror move you must see Penny
Dreadful: available on Netflix.
This series
has everything: Dracula; the wolf man; Dr. Frankenstein, his monster and his female
monster; witches; even the ageless Dorian Gray.
The story
will keep you on the edge of your seat.
This is not only a great script, but well-acted.

HALLOWEEN
I am some disappointed. Here it is the day before Halloween and after
searching the online TV guide for Halloween movies I came up with nothing
except a Michael Myers marathon – and that sux.
As I have
stated on other blogs I don’t believe in ghost and goblins and things that go
bump in the night; but I love Halloween and movies of monsters and witches and things
that represent this season.
Actually, my
wife and I celebrate Halloween.
Halloween for us evolved from the times of witchcraft: maidens, mothers
and crones – a time when wise women practiced medicine with herbs and spells
and offered hope to people in special need.
Witches, if
you will, were uniquely in touch with the cycles of nature, as only women can
be. Men and religions over the centuries
have suppressed these connections, until today girls and women and crones do
not even realize the power they possess – they do not celebrate their
nature.
Halloween is
their time, a time of witches, a time of women – It is the quintessential
holiday for women. A time for women to
celebrate all stages of their life and renew their connections with Mother
Nature.

OCTOBER: A SPECIAL MONTH FOR SPECIAL PEOPLE
When you are married to a witch October is a special month.
October
Damn my hair has turned white.
But, I still have some black in my mustache and my pubes are still black.
The season for witches - and this one is mine
The baby is always watching the mamma witch
The Older Cat - My wife's familiar
The exercise bike sits idle behind the chest: perhaps she can cast a spell that will make us want to use it next month.
Double bubble toil and trouble...
Counting down to Halloween
Look into my eyes...

I CAN TAKE OR LEAVE ZOMBIES
BUT I AM DEFINITELY
GLAD VAMPIRES ARE BACK.
Charlaine Harris
has started a new series. West of Bon
Temps, Louisiana, in the west Texas town of Midnight – population 10 – the story
continues.
In the first
of the series, Midnight Crossroad, we meet the cast of characters – a strange
group that choose to live in the middle of nowhere to protect their
privacy. It is a murder mystery with a
strange cast that leaves you wondering.
Midnight is
a spot in the road in the middle of west Texas nowhere. If you ever travel through you might have the
urge to stop and gas up and use the restroom at the convenience store; but you
would be advised to travel on through; unless you are unafraid of vampires,
weretigers and witches with talking cats.
Traveler
Beware!

HAXAN: WITCHCRAFT THROUGH THE AGES
Normally this time of year someone has posted the original movie on witchcraft and devil worship.
So, for those of you that have missed it: hear presented is HAXAN - originally published in 1922.
(the first thirteen minutes are narrated pictures and then the movie begins.)
The shadows on the moon tonight
will bring with it a ghostly fright;
For witches fly upon their brooms
and dance the night to demon's tunes;
But dawn will bring a newborn light
Provided you survive this night.
Happy Halloween

MAGIC
I have been as busy as a one legged man in an ass kicking
contest this summer. I won’t bore your
with my to-do list, which included painting our house, relining our driveway
with stone, putting away three cord of wood – plumbing – carpentry – rebuilding
my snow blower etc.; but keeping physically busy has keep my computer usage
(and blogging) to a minimum.
This begs the question: do we blog because we have nothing
better to do, or because we have something to say?
I have an appointment this morning so I don’t have time to
consider this.
But
A time for witches, a time for dancing, a time for nature,
a time to celebrate the unknown and magical is upon us.
So Mote It Be!

A TIME FOR WITCHES
My wife, who I am sure is a witch, decorates for Halloween.
(sorry I have a new computer with Windows 8.1 and I don't know how to resize the pics - so they may take longer to download)
BOO!

HALLOWEEN: MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY
I Love Halloween!
First of
all, because it is a celebration of all things macabre; and I love books and
movies on vampires, werewolves, witches and things that go bump in the night:
something evil this way comes.
Also,
because it drives fundamentalist Christians crazy:
A man also or woman that hath a
familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall
stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.
Leviticus 20:27

AN ATHEIST SEES THE LIGHT
I gave up religion soon after
graduating from high school. It always
bugs me when I am called an atheist, because I don’t believe I need a name to
define me by what I don’t believe.
I don’t believe in big foot,
zombies, vampires, fairies or gnomes and I don’t need a special title to
proclaim me a sensible person. Likewise, I don’t need a title to identify that I don’t believe in a magical man living
in some fantasy realm that controls everything that happens here on earth.
But lately I have changed my
mind…I believe that there may be a deity: a GODDESS, and that all the women on
earth are witches and have a special hidden connection with the GREAT MOTHER.
The goal of the GODDESS is obviously
to make all men appear foolish and thereby, in our own minds, covertly
subservient to the female of the species.
SHE is able to accomplish this
because HER witches, that inhabit our lives, have special imps and mini-demons
they can set upon us when we become to arrogant.
To begin with, HER females have
bodies that can enchant us with an illusion of sexual gratification that
instantly turns us males into drooling automatons, and they are able to finesse
this power in a way that always keeps us distracted when ever we are in their
presence.
SHE has given HER witches,
for their pleasure and entertainment, imps and mini-demons they can use to
bedevil us males.
I was recently doing
carpentry work, and measure a board for cutting – then measuring it twice for
accuracy. When I cut the board and laid it in place I found to my astonishment that it was ½ inch too short. I slammed down the board and let out a string
of cuss words. Now, I hadn’t seen my wife
all morning but when I looked up she was watching me from the window. She
shook her head and said, ‘You should measure twice before you cut. Then she disappeared… ZAP!
There was the time we were in
my truck and I hear an unusual rattling noise.
I ask my wife if she heard it. She
looks at me incredulously and said she couldn’t hear anything.’ Eventually the rattle drove me nuts and I took
the truck to my mechanic. The mechanic
drove the truck and there is no rattle.
I drove out of the shop and the rattle was instantly back. I turned around and went back to the shop but
again the mechanic couldn’t hear the noise.
When I got home my wife looks at me with attentive eyes while her cat
weaves between her feet, and she asked what the mechanic found. I told her they couldn’t find the noise. She shook her head and walked away leaving
the cat staring at me with big blue eyes before following her – and I swear the
cat was shaking her head…SHAZAM!
These and a thousand other
instances that have left me standing in her presence with egg on my face have
me almost convinced. It has happened
too often to be just my stupidity. It happens
too often to other males to be our collective stupidity. There has to be some divine intervention,
some GODDESS that can leave us males groveling for our self respect in front of
our women (witches.)
