I loved playing football as a kid; and as an adult I wait with anticipation for the New England Patriots NFL football games on TV.

The violence doesn’t bother me; but, it is fucking aggravating to see a player make a tackle, catch a ball or run for a touchdown then point up in the air like he is dedicating his exploit to God’s graciousness.

This moron doesn’t realize that during the three-hour duration of the game approximately 1,200 children died of diseases, 2,625 children died of starvation, 180 people were raped, and 600 murders were being committed.

I think the idiot is holding up the wrong finger.  If his God can get credit for a player’s athletic ability, He should also be held responsible for the cruelty he permits in the world during the duration of the game.

the Ol’Buzzard

  1. The really STUPID thing about football players pointing to heaven is that everyone knows God's a HOCKEY fan. He doesn't watch effin' football!

  2. Debra nailed it.

The egoism bugs the heck out of me. Do those players really believe that if there is a God that he/she/it would give a rat's patoot about what happens in a sport? If players said something thoughtful after the game about being grateful for being given a talent, that might not be as irritating, but the whole "thank you Jeebus!!" routine when they score? Disgusting.

  3. The religious thing at football games has gone on for a long time, the thing I've been noticing lately is players in addition to pointing up to heaven or whatever is then they salute?? WTF is up with that?? I didn't like to salute when I was in the military, why would someone with no connection to the military want to salute and who or what are they saluting??

COMMENT: Ben Franklin said, "I imagine a man must have a good deal of vanity who believes, and a good deal of boldness who affirms, that all doctrines he holds are true, and all he rejects are false."
