  3. Great and informative post. I think I have been getting much more real time info here in France, but this post provides a real inside look. We gave a great program, Le Petite Journal, here on the Canal+ channel..hard to describe, news comedy and satire, but with a team of young reporters who go into the middle of the action...right now they are embedded in Venezuela and the Ukraine and were in the midst of the protests in Bangkok. I think the American media has presented a lot of confusing info because they lack the resources to actually understand the culture of the news they are reporting and let the official media and in the case of the reporting on the Ukraine in America, "experts" with their own agenda. I am going to repost this piece. A few days ago, I posted a report from Bangkok from my nephew, who has lived there for years and many of his friends and their families are actively involved in the opposition movement. My nephew writes some pretty gossipy insider stuff that gave info that you would never get from the American media. The Thai regime is teetering and will try to cling to power, but it is basically over for the Thaksin puppet/ Shinawatra government. I will repost this...I have been following the latest developments in the Ukraine and I don't think the opposition trusts Yanukovich in the least. Laurent Fabius, the French Foreign Minister has been in the midst of the negotiations and he just made a statement in the French media that Yanukovich cannot be trusted. You know, Yanukovich barely speaks Ukranian, he speaks Russian. Fabius also jokingly said that after spoending a few days in close proximity to Yanukovich he is sure that he is the last person that anyone would want to have a vacation with. The latest from the Guardian is predicting that he will be ousted by his own government. This has been a terrible awful week for Vladimir Putin and I hope it gets a lot worse! Thank you for posting this!

  5. If you are following this story, here in France it is 1 pm and the news is that Yanukovych was supposed to make an appearance this morning, but he seems to have disappeared. I am beginning to think that he realized that if he stuck around, he was going to have one of those very special very special "Ceausescu" moments.

  6. Speaking of Ceausescu, check out the reporting of the now ongoing tour of Yanukovych's estate by the Ukrainians...A hastily abandoned fantasy land...evidence of the unbelievable corruption and wholesale looting his despotic cartel was guilty of. Sure, this is not going to be easy, but the Ukraine has a lot of support from the rest of Europe. There may be a new pro Russian Crimean republic in the east, but this is a very positive day for the rest of Europe and another very bad day for Vladimir.

  7. Yes, if you haven't seen pictures of his estate, find them. not bad for a $100,000 a year salary

  8. I saw the pics...Michael Jackson would have been enjoyed staying there! The Pirate ship themed dining hall was worth the price of admission alone. This is turning out pretty interestingly as it thwarts both Putin and the Americans.I just saw on the mid day news here the arrest of Yanukovych as he tried to leave the Ukraine in a private jet to Russia.
