I spent two years in Newfoundland and it was the wildest two years of my life.... Recently we had a Newfy band play in our area: If you haven't heard The Irish Descendants then pour a shot of rum (preferably Newfoundland Screech) and sit back and enjoy.
I almost moved to Nova Scotia in 1968, but I think drugs had something to do with that. Come to think of it, I've lived in rural France for the last almost 20 years...how the fuck did I get here? Actually, I am quite Irish in so many ways and this is some of the music I love.
COMMENT: Ben Franklin said, "I imagine a man must have a good deal of vanity who believes, and a good deal of boldness who affirms, that all doctrines he holds are true, and all he rejects are false."
Nice!
ReplyDeleteGod bless the immigrants.
I am thinking of going to a desktop.
ReplyDeleteI got an Emachine at Walmart for under three hundred bucks, monitor not included. It is still stomping good at five years old.
Don't do Rum. But I tell you what, I'll pour myself some scotch tonight and give it another listen. Good tune, well done.
ReplyDeleteLove the Irish Descendants! Have never been to Nfld but would love to go some day.

ReplyDeleteIf you haven't seen The Shipping News it is worth a viewing: about Newfoundland and the attitudes of its people.
