JOHN MC CAIN IS A TRUE AMERICAN HERO

McCain flew an A-4 Sky Hawk on bombing mission over North Vietnam.  Flying off and on the moving and pitching deck of an aircraft carrier is, in itself, a dangerous mission, and only the best Navy pilots are assigned that duty.

On his last missions his plane was hit by a ground-to-air missile and he ejected into a lake outside of Hanoi sustaining a broken leg.   He was captured by North Vietnamese Regulars.  His shoulder was smashed by a blow from a rifle butt and he was stabbed in the abdomen and the foot.

He was brutally interrogated for a number of days and it wasn’t until the North Vietnamese realized his father was an important admiral that he was given medical treatment.  He was eventually transferred to a prison camp known as the Plantation

At the Plantation he was interrogated and brutally tortured.  With his hands tied behind him he was hoisted off the floor and beaten, dislocating his shoulders in the process.  Throughout this whole time, he kept faith with his fellow POW’s, the Navy and the United States of America.    As a political ploy the North Vietnamese offered McCain an early release but McCain refused saying he would only accept a release if every pow captured before him was also released.

Mc Cain spent five years in the Hanoi POW camp, much of that time in isolation under mental and physical duress.

This man kept the faith and was an example to his band of brothers.

After his return and recovery McCain visited the Navy SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape) detachment where I was an instructor.  It was my privilege to meet McCain and hear first hand his experience at the hands of the North Vietnamese.

This country owes a great debt to McCain and to all American Prisoners of War.

McCain’s funeral will be attended by Senators and Congresspersons and former Presidents; but the current President will be missing in action.

Our five times deferments, draft dodging, cowardly President has shown contempt for McCain.   In an interview Trump said he had his own Vietnam like trauma by avoiding venereal disease from the women he had sex with.  He stated that McCain (and by extension all American POW’s) were not heroes – that he liked men who weren’t captured.  Trump ordered that the flag over the White House not be lowered to half-mass from the time of McCain’s death to his burial.

It is beyond my understanding how any man who has done military service or anyone that supports our men and women in the military can back this unpatriotic, insecure billionaire phony, that now inhabits the oval office.

THE HUMAN RACE SUX, BUT HAVE A GOOD DAY

Today is a cat day.  It is raining and the temperature is fifty degrees with a slight wind.

I love this type of day.    It’s a day to stay home and read, nap, eat, nap, drink wine, get laid and nap – and spend a short time on the computer this morning to get the need to write out of my system.

I have made a conscious effort not to mire into the political, economic and foreign policies of the country and the world on this blog; because what comes around goes around – and we will see the same insanity again and again and again.

So I try to blog about the non-crisis of the moment.   But today I have to comment.

October 9, 2015 and we have another shooting at a college campus, this week in Arizona.   Oh well; what’s Donald Trump doing?

The Republican led Congress is totally dysfunctional: they have inherited the wind; but we all suffer from a dysfunctional government.

We are quagmire in the Middle East and it is of our own making:

In 2003 Bush invaded Iraq and removed Saddam, and that has turned into ethnic chaos resulting in Isil.

We supported the overthrow of Kaddafi resulting in that country being destabilized and becoming a home for Al Qaeda.

Now we are demanding the overthrow of the government of Syria and removal of President Bashar al Assad – what could possibly go wrong there?  Obviously we can’t learn from past mistakes.

Adding to the Syrian conflict Russia has now militarily committed to the al Assad government and is flying missions in defiance of U.S. war planes.

Vladimir Putin is an ego-maniac that seems anxious for a confrontation with the U.S.   He is capable of escalating the Syrian conflict to a nuclear threat believing the U.S. will back down and Russia will be respected as the premier military power in the world.

The problem is that we have our own ego-maniacs led by John McCain who would like to escalate a confrontation with Russia.  Yesterday McCain proposed implementing a no fly zone over Syria and confronting Russian war planes.

I constantly make reference to George Orwell’s 1984 because the parallels to today are so striking.

The country is in a perpetual state of war: we fight them there because we don’t want to fight them here.
War is Peace.”

The Patriot Act will keep us safe.
Freedom is Slavery.”

The Tea Party has taken over the Republican Congress and vies for the Presidency.
Ignorance is Strength.

The parallels are endless.  If you haven’t read 1984 in a while…   Perhaps you shouldn’t – it might ruin your day.

The fucking country is a mess, the god damn world is a mess, the human race is a mess; but I don’t care.  It will be the same way when I am gone.    The human race cannot live in peace.  As individuals we are likable-enough; but in our herd, our pack or our troop we are destructive, vindictive and cruel.

Am I depressed?   No way.   I plan to drink some wine, have a decadent lunch, and if I am lucky have sex this afternoon with my beautiful wife.

So the world can go to hell in a handbag – just as it always has.   We are the root of our own destruction and someday we will inherit the wind.

But in the meantime have a good day

OLD MAN SHOUTS AT CLOUDS

John McCain's Conspiracy Theory!

We have all had the old grandfather or old uncle that is permanently safety wired in the pissed off position.   My on wife makes it a point, when I start grumbling and grouching about how things are, to remind me that I am one step away from ‘Old Man Shouting at Clouds.’

The personification of this axiom is John McCain.   McCain is a sour bitter old man who did not get his way four years ago and can’t move pass his disappointment.

We all know that McCain suffered as a POW in Vietnam…as did many Americans.   His military service is to be praised.   But, though he is identified by his military service, he has not been a friend to the troops.   He has continually voted against increased funds for the VA and also against education and other benefits for veterans.

We must remember that McCain is the son of an Admiral, who was the son of an Admiral, and that he is, and always has been, as out of touch with the military enlisted man as Mitt Romney is with food stamp recipients.

John McCain is not particularly bright (though, by the standards we set for our Senators and Congresspersons he is probably considered above average.)  He graduated at the bottom of his class in Annapolis; and we saw his ignorance demonstrated when he toured Iraq with Joe Lieberman during his run for President, and Lieberman had to correct him – that in fact Iraq and Afghanistan does not share a common border.

And now John McCain shouts at clouds in hope of creating a conspiracy theory to motivate the idiot base of the Republican Party to demonstration against the President.
