MAKE IT PERSONAL

Yooper posted a blog post about officials down south that still refuse to issue marriage licences to gay couples.

My response is listed below.

The law of the land is not settled and any federal ,state or  local public official that refuses a marriage licence should have a personal liability suits brought against them from each party wronged.   A few monetary suits for stress, anxiety and psychological damages brought against these officials for refusing to do their job would end this quickly.

Making it personal would scare them into compliance.

  1. If these individual government employees who serve the public are not allowed to refuse service to someone based on race or religion, they should not be allowed to refuse service on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. The governing right is the right of everyone to receive public services.

  2. Sue them and impeach the judges and any other elected person that refuses to issue marriage licenses. Lots of luck with that as the ones that would do the impeaching have the same stupid beliefs!!

  3. So far so good here in Seguin Texas. No one has been refused yet. But that idiot Governor Greg Abbott has been screaming from Austin that marriage licences can be refused if that person believes it is against their religious beliefs. There has been a petition to impeach him on the grounds of constitutional rights being infringed on. I don't think it will get far though.

  4. it's just blustering..they don't have a legal leg to stand on and they know it..one good lawsuit for the person refusing to marry them and sue them for everything including the drawers they're wearing..that will get their attention.
