Man is made in His image
What a fearsome thought
Man the killer
Man the eater flesh
Man the executioner
Man the rapist
Man the murderer
Man the destroyer
Man the selfish – the ignorant – the bigot
Man the defiler of children
Man the orchestrator of war and genocide

And if there were a heaven
Which there isn’t
Ruled by such a maniacal entity

What a cruel place to contemplate eternity

  1. The concept of God has always been problematic, it's true.

  2. OB,
I guess my ass is screwed up bad! I believe in God but think Genesis is bullshit and know from the bones that we have found that evolution occured. Dad didn't believe in heaven and nor do I. I think like he did; when you die - that's it! And, as I have already wriiten over at Kulkuri's blog - I was immediate cremation and no memorial service.

    Excellent post!
    New blog:

Need your input. Oh, I read something about heating oil prices going up in Maine. Is that affecting you are do you burn wood?

Freezing rain and sleet tonight here - maybe a inch - 39 tomorrow....

  3. After a few traumatic eye opening events when I was very young and the influence of a few demented nuns, I began my journey to what ever it is that I don't believe in is called. I don't believe. I ask questions. Sometimes I think I see an answer, but then the answer opens the door to a new question. Much more interesting. I have been laughing at the meltdown of the conservative catholics in America dealing with a sort of progressive pope. Any one up for a good old fashioned schism?

COMMENT: Ben Franklin said, "I imagine a man must have a good deal of vanity who believes, and a good deal of boldness who affirms, that all doctrines he holds are true, and all he rejects are false."
