THIS COUNTRY HAS BECOME MORE DANGEROUS !

It is not enough that a person can walk into a gun shop or gun show and walk out with a military-style semi-automatic high-velocity weapon with an extended magazine.   Now the conservative Supreme Court has nullified a ban on bump stocks, which can turn semi-automatic weapons into rapid-fire mass killing machines like the ones used in the Las Vegas shooting that killed sixty people and wounded five hundred.

Just wait until the next mass shooting….

This country is fucking nuts

THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM

Bipartisan gun bill – bullshit.   This is not a win.  It is an appeasement.

If military assault semi-automatic weapons and extended clips were not legal there would be no mass shootings.

Other countries have citizens with mental health problems, but they don’t have mass gun casualties like the United States; because their citizens don’t have access to military weapons designed to inflict mass casualties in a combat situation.

Children massacred in schools, people killed at concerts, people mowed down at parades…   This is not the result of mental health issues, not about red flag laws, not about background checks.   It is because of the availability of military assault weapons

GUN VIOLENCE AND OWNERSHIP

The following is a comment I made on YELLOWDOG GRANNY’s   post.

It is not about mass shooters, it is not about cop killing black people, it is not about dangerous militia; It is about guns: the availability of guns, the gun slinger attitude, the acceptance of a gun culture.   Yes, there are social, racist, anarchist, police militarization and mental illness factions that need to be addressed.   But it is the guns.  Guns are killing people.

I have lost count of the shootings this week.   Gun violence is now the normal.

I am not against gun ownership; but I am against guns being owned for the purpose of killing people.

The answers are simple; but when half of the United States still believe that Donald Trump is the President in exile, there is no hope of common sense ever bringing about changes.

We don’t need to restrict guns; we need to address the need for them.  The only reason to own a gun in the United states is for hunting and home protection.  With that in mind, rifle and shotgun ownership should require a hunting license.  Pistol ownership should require a gun permit and background check.

Hunting rifles should be bolt-action and a maximum capacity of five rounds.   If you can’t take you prey with five shots you shouldn’t be out in the woods armed.  Shotguns should be single shot, double barreled, or pump with a three-shot capacity.  Handguns should be limited to a six-round capacity.

Military type assault weapons designed specifically to kill humans should be banned.

Police training, armament and use of force are a total other subject that should be addressed separately.

This, of course, is pie-in-the-sky.  No common-sense gun regulation will ever be accomplished in the United States in the 21st century.  We are a gun violent society.

How many hours before the next gun death, or should the question be in minutes?

THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS AREN’T WORTH A SHIT WHEN YOU ARE DEAD.

Shooting at a synagogue, two black people shot in Kentucky: I am not shocked any more.

I quit being concerned about mass shootings after Sandy Hook Elementary School killings.   If the nation was not horrified enough to enact gun control legislation after twenty, six and seven-year-old children and six adults were butchered in a school by a man with weapons designed specifically to kill people; then this is the country we have elected to live in.

We will bury our dead, and then move on until the next mass shooting when we will feign horror and outrage; and send our thoughts and prayers.

REPUBLICAN RESPONSE TO TERRORISM

We had a California terrorist attack by two radicalized Muslims and the U.S is outraged.   Even members of the Republican Congress were so concerned they stated they would pray for the families of the dead.

We had a terrorist attack at a Colorado Planned Parenthood clinic by a radicalized Christian.   Most Democrats were outraged – the Republicans spoke against abortion providers and said we need better mental health treatment; but not even a prayer for the dead.

This is nothing new.  Racism and religious intolerance has always been a part of the American makeup.   Now it has pretty much congealed in  the Republican Party.   When we say that this is not what American values are, we are fooling ourselves.
