CURSIVE WRITING

Maine is no longer required to teach cursive writing in school.

My wife is left handed and has a beautiful cursive hand writing; mine legible but not so great.   When I read something she has written it seems valuable just because of the beauty of her script.

There is a value in writing that shouldn’t be merely about communication.  We are losing many things of value now in our rushed age of technology.

  1. They should never have eliminated the Palmer method. Those exercises refined fine motor control like nothing else they have the little barracudas do now.

  2. Almost forgot. I did a post on this topic a few years ago. https://mannikkomaki.blogspot.com/2013/07/the-dodo-passenger-pigeon-and-palmer.html

  3. I love seeing beautiful cursive handwriting too. It is definitely a lost art these days.

  4. It's such a shame that all those wonderful little things we learned in school are disappearing. It's part of the dumbing down of the world.

COMMENT: Ben Franklin said, "I imagine a man must have a good deal of vanity who believes, and a good deal of boldness who affirms, that all doctrines he holds are true, and all he rejects are false."
