POWERBALL

All right, I did the odds: it's easy.    There are 310 Million people in the United States.   On average, 280 people in the United States are struck by lightning ever year.

Which means, approximately one person out of every one million people in US will likely get a lightning strike this year.

Your chance of winning the POWERBALL is is 1 in in 292 Million.

Conclusion: You have the same chance of being struck by lightning 292 times as you do winning the POWERBALL.

I think I will buy two tickets tonight and double my chance.

Crap, somebody won and I missed it.   Think I will save my $4.00

Of course, I have had two near lightning strikes in my life; that means there is still a chance I can have 290 more - or perhaps win the POWERBALL next time.

  1. I have never bought a Powerball ticket in my life, but at times I'll buy the smaller lotto tickets. To donate to the cause I guess.

  2. My husband, David went stark raving crazy and bought two tickets. Didn't win a frigging thing. What a waste.

  3. I didn't get around to actually buying any this week. The odds are the same as if I did.

  4. I bought a lottery ticket once - I won $10 - I'm $9 ahead - figure I'll hold.

  5. Can't win if you don't have a ticket and, after all, SOMEONE'S got to win.
