I have an
ole flip phone, 12 years old, and still have prepaid phone service through an
Alaskan company for $100 per year.
I have been
thinking about replacing the phone service to something local. Then, last night my wife brought the
JITTERBUG advertisement to my attention.
It looked like exactly what we need: fifty minutes a month for
$14.99.
This morning
I called the JITTERBUG customer service intending to sign up. I dialed the number and got a partial
recording telling me to leave a number.
Figuring that I must have dialed wrong I tried again. This time I got a JITTERBUG recording
telling me to stay on the line. I listened
to music for about five minutes and then an operator came on and told me that
all the customer service lines were busy.
She said I would have to leave my number and
someone would return my call within 24 hours.
Wow! My call was to sign up for a new phone
service and I could not connect to customer service? What if I were on the road and having
trouble with my phone only to be told that I would have to wait up to 24 hours
to speak to someone in customer service?
Unacceptable.
Unacceptable.
So, online I
go looking for JITTERBUG customers to find what their experience has been with
JITTERBUG. The responses are
unbelievably bad. I am enclosing the web
link, and suggest that if you are considering purchasing a JITTERBUG you would
be advised to read it.

The S.O. and I have Tracfones. Average cost was about $20 each. Every 3 months we end up buying a 60-minute card for $19.95. We usually run out of days long before we run out of minutes. They still have flip phones if that's the style you like. I think the S.O. ordered the first two online -- they came with a built-in special deal where when we add minutes the minutes are automatically doubled (pay for 60, get 120). Of the various plans around, my personal opinion is Tracfone gives you the best deal.

ReplyDeleteDavid and I have Tracfone with flip-phones too. It's the best deal by far. You can also go online and take care of business instead of talking to someone if you have a problem. I love the fact that you get a certain amount of minutes and they can just rollover your minutes each month and never lose them I still have over 3000 minutes from last year and never had to use them yet(knock wood). We pay about $17 a month for the both us and we only use them in an emergency. Also there is no contract and you can join from any Walmart that has a Tracfone service.

ReplyDeleteI have a cheap AT&T smart phone and my plan is 25 bucks every 90 days, I figure that is a good deal being as it is my only phone. My cheap plan doesn't include getting the most out of the smart phone or I would run out of prepaid minutes too fast but if I'm in a free Wifi area I can use it and not my minutes.
ReplyDeleteAnd there is an AT&T store here so if I have a problem or issue I just take it there they whip things in shape. Beats the shit out of calling customer service.
The bar I go to has free Wifi so sometimes I use it there.
ReplyDeleteI also live out in the sticks and have used Tracfone for 10yrs. The latest flipfone was $20 @ Fred Meyers..I pay $112. a year and still have 2000 minutes that follows me every year..And get triple minutes for the price of single.
