WORKING PEOPLE VOTE REPUBLICAN

THE POLICY OF A PARTY

THE PARTY'S MINIONS

THE WORKING POOR

WHY?

I'm just asking.
I don't understand it.

  1. Baffles me, too. Working people voting Republican is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders. I think it goes back to the '60s when Nixon managed to get poor whites to vote Republicans because a Democratic president (Johnson) signed the Civil Rights Act. The Republicans still seem to run campaigns grounded in hate (hate of immigrants, hate of the poor, hate of women) so they've still cornered the market on the votes of aggrieved white guys who think they're victims and who need someone to hate so they can feel more special than they actually are.

  2. Baffles me but I think Nan may have hit it. People vote Republican for reasons other than economy too - the social conservatives will sacrifice to support Republican values. The Left has a great deal of extremist baggage that I detest but I would hold me nose before I would vote Republican

COMMENT: Ben Franklin said, "I imagine a man must have a good deal of vanity who believes, and a good deal of boldness who affirms, that all doctrines he holds are true, and all he rejects are false."
