Remember
George Carlin and the seven words you can’t say on TV?
There is now
only one word you definitely can’t say on TV.
I was
watching the movie The Heat a couple of days ago. At the beginning of the movie there was a warning:
language, adult content and violence – may not be appropriate for all
viewers.
During the
movie the characters said vagina, dick, cock, god damn, shit, ass, tits, blow job, asshole and son-of-a-bitch - and there was an
ending with two people fucking - but the word fuck was voiced over to frig and frigging.
You can’t
say fuck in an adult movie? What the
fuck
I am god
damn tired of phony Christian censorship determining what I am allowed see and
hear on television in adult programming, and because parents do not take
responsibility for what their children are viewing.
The fear is always that little Johnny, who is
secretly watching blow jobs on PornHub in his room on his computer, will run
out and hear the word FUCK and be ruined for the rest of his life.
I have witnessed
in my lifetime Christians censoring books, burning books, burning music tapes,
censoring school libraries and censoring television programs.
It is about
time we tell the religious minority of family values to go fuck themselves.
the Ol’Buzzard
BUT WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN? WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN?
ReplyDeleteBWAAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAAAA! Debra you always say what I was going to say. You're a bad influence girlfriend.
ReplyDeleteOh, BTW. The remark you left in comments on my blog was really what I have been thinking for years. Mother Nature is trying to get rid of us. Hurricanes and tornadoes were not cutting it so she came up with a scary virus to cull the herd. It made a dent. She's going to try again and again until she gets it right, if the republicans don't beat her to the punch. This fall get ready for round two of her trying to kill off the savage humans with a bad flu paired with a more dangerous mutation of CV-19. Stay safe and healthy.
NPR had an interview (been a while, I don't remember the details) about someone who made a movie and dealt with the ratings board. Which is anonymous. IIRC the word fuck, same sex kissing, and showing a penis were some of the items on their automatic X rating list. But showing extreme violence, especially against half dressed women, is just fine viewing for kids.
ReplyDeleteCensorship is so subjective as to be a ridiculous concept... especially for Adults... and Kids, well, they see and hear more in Real Life than they ever will be exposed to via just a Show, that isn't Real. The Reality many Kids deal with daily is way worse... and often at the hands of those who are self-righteous in public, and behind closed doors, do all kinds of despicable things. When working for the DA's Office, some of the worst Crimes had Letters of Recommendations from their Clergy... Street Angels, House Devils, clearly.
