Wednesday
the 27th a snow/ice/rain storm began about 7 pm. Trees and power lines were coated with ice. We lost electricity at 11 pm. I was up every two hours over night to feed
the wood stove. The power was finally
restored at 2 pm on Thanksgiving day.
On Friday the 29th
we cooked our Thanksgiving meal and were thankful we had power.
Power good
No Power bad
The Ol’Buzzard
Lots of power outages in our area, too. Ours never went out although it flickered a few times. Our Thanksgiving dinner was supposed to be with the grandson in Wisconsin, but when we realized digging the car out after the snow stopped would involve Real Work we decided to stay home. Snow removal has since been accomplished but at a more leisurely pace than would have been required Thursday morning. Think we're up to around 4 feet of total snowfall so far with about a measurable foot on the ground. When it falls as fluff it compacts fairly fast.
ReplyDeleteOur Jotul stove is good at a holding a fire overnight. It'll go 8 hours or more and still have a good bed of coals.
holy crap....glad it's restored and all is well at the buzzard house..
ReplyDeleteGlad you came through okay!
ReplyDeleteThat was a rough holiday for so many people.
