The president is now getting heat from the Christian 'right' about his comments that all religions, including Christianity, have gone through eras of religious mania resulting in unbelievable atrocities.

He actually fell short of literally condemning all religions - including Christianity - that serve no actual purpose on the earth except to divide.   The few food pantries run by good people are not a counter argument.

  1. The Christians who fled to America were not seeking freedom of religion. they were seeking the ability to enforce THEIR religion on everyone else. Congregants seek love, peace, fellowship and forgiveness. The leaders, all of whom claim to speak exclusively for God, use guilt and fear to hold their followers. If they collect enough followers to acquire any kind of political power, they become tyrants. Fundamentalist Christians will one day in America make ISIS seem like a peace keeping mission.

    1. Without the promise of life after death there would be no religions.

  2. It's fun to watch the President descend (or ascend) into no longer caring at all about censoring himself. I always thought he thought that about religion, and hey, he does! The video clip is excellent. I never heard it put quite that way before.

Just found this blog... very cool. :)

  3. The thing that gets me is everyone is talking about the evils that christianity did as something that happened centuries ago when it is happening today!! The worse domestic terrorist act happened 20 years ago by a catholic in revenge for what happened to a christian cult in Waco, the Oklahoma City bombing. Then there are all the abortion clinic bombings and killing of doctors. There are various groups of white supremacists that use religion to support their views. That's just a few examples of what's happening very recently, not just the crusades and the inquisition.

COMMENT: Ben Franklin said, "I imagine a man must have a good deal of vanity who believes, and a good deal of boldness who affirms, that all doctrines he holds are true, and all he rejects are false."
