A BUNDY SCENARIO

Stay with me on this....

Just suppose that a rusty ass old biker like me decided to grow some pot in his basement - feeling that it is a victimless crime and an asinine law I would be breaking.    Then suppose that the local John Law and DEA, with nothing better to do, decided that they would suit up and bust my ass.

Here is where the story takes a Bundy parallel:   Suppose when they arrived they found fifty Hell’s Angels (now we know this is just fiction – the Angels always get a bad rap – sorry bros) armed to the teeth and looking for a fight – defending my property.

How long do you think it would be before the local law, the local sheriff’s department, the Maine State Police, the Federal Marshalls, the FBI and the DEA, with all sorts of backup, would show up in battle gear and kick ass?  12 hours?   24 hours?  36 hours?

I am just asking.

If it was scary bikers the Maine Governor (now there is an asshole) would call out the real militia: the National Guard.

Why do these soldier sniffing, Mad Max wannabee, sub-intelligent, small dick, grown men playing army – militia assholes get a pass?

And why do members of Congress come out in their defense?

I am just asking.

  3. Why do the cops show up and rough up left wing demonstrations but leave well armed right wing nut bar demonstrations alone? Because they are on the side of the latter. The right to free speech and freedom of assembly gets short shrift compared to the right to bear arms.

    1. Elected officials are only as bright as the people that elect them. Spray college students with pepper spray and turn a blind eye to anarchy - Cops are tough when they aren't confronted with might. These nut cases were dangerous but the Sheriff could have shut this down before it got to this extent... But again he is an elected official and wants to keep his job.

  4. In the USA, lefty demonstrations are usually in support of progressive change. Look at the way the Occupy movement was instantly perceived as being dangerous by the corporate establishment and brutally dismantled all over the country. When there was violence claimed by the police, it was usually instigated by provocateur instigators planted by the police. Plus, the Occupy movement was non violent. They didn't come with guns. The were spreading ideas perceived as being dangerous and that is what the corporate overlords had to suppress. I am very happy to watch Cliven dig himself deeper into his pit of lies and take his supporters down with him. I really think he is another rich asshole suffering from Affluenza. Too rich and deluded enough to think he can be above the same laws that govern the common poor scum who need his beef for their burgers. I loved the phrase from the CNN reporter calling him a Welfare Queen in a Cowboy hat after he made his little speech about minorities and then tried to explain himself and only stepped into it deeper! I think the Federal government acted responsibly in their dealings with Cliven and his idiots. To have provoked a confrontation would have been a disaster. Who needs another Waco? But I really don't think it would have ever gone that far. There was a lot of talk and bluster and posing by little men with big guns. Remember, Cliven's son threatening to put the women and children in front of the militia so the feds would have to shoot them down to get to them? Sometimes patience really is a virtue.
Did you ever see the Hells Angels headquarters on East Third Street in Lower Manhattan? I lived 2 blocks away for 27 years! The Fifth Precinct cops never came down that street! The lowest crime rate for any block in Manhattan, even while the East Village was a total anarchy drug zone battlefield. They have an entire building and don't you even think about parking on the block! They traditionally have a Fourth of July neighborhood party attended by a few thousand people with bands in front of the Big Vinnie Memorial wall that says "When in doubt, knock 'em out!". Even after the reigns of Rudy Guiliani and Bloomberg, The Angels still rule East Third Street between 2nd and 1st Avenues in NYC!

  5. There have been some interesting posts about Bundy, his family's history, and grazing rights in general over on some of the Western history and environmental history blogs. Like a lot of Western ranchers, they never bothered to get clear title to the land they used other than making sure they had water rights. It was cheaper and easier to rely on federal land for grazing even when they could have bought the land outright. Over time, federal policies evolved and ranchers got squeezed. Most adapted and have been willing to work with the BLM or the Forest Service on new grazing practices; Bundy is one who's refused to. He was a folk hero for Fox News for awhile, but then he made the mistake of talking. The feds will just wait him out. Eventually the militia gun nuts will leave, the cattle will get rounded up, and Bundy will end up sitting in jail on a contempt charge.

I would like to see the feds go after some of those gun nuts who had weapons aimed at the BLM employees. They've got plenty of photos to work with; just go round them up one by one when their pack disperses and charge them as domestic terrorists.

  6. To clarify things, Bundy lied about his family's history and his ancestral claim to grazing rights. He claimed his family had been their since the 1870's. In reality he acquired the land after moving there in 1948. His cattle didn't start grazing on the land he claims until 1954. He's a liar and the biggest damn welfare queen I ever seen!

  7. Are the Hell's Angles obtuse or acute??

A couple things about this situation has me scratching my ass. Why has the government allowed the Welfare Cowboy to graze his cattle for 20+ years without paying the grazing fees or the fines levied by the courts when he lost his case??

Also, what exactly is this "overreach by an authoritarian government"?? I keep hearing that that's what those little boys playing soldier waving their assault rifles are supposedly there to prevent??
